Luuna vs YNAB
YNAB plans your whole month before you spend it. Luuna shows up in the moment you spend: your weekly budget for that store, on screen, and a check before you pay.
The short version
YNAB is a full budgeting app. You give every dollar a job and track your spending against that plan. Luuna is narrower on purpose. It doesn't plan your rent or your bills. It sits inside the stores where one-tap orders add up, keeps that store's weekly number pinned to every page, and shows where an order leaves you before you pay. There's nothing to log.
| Luuna | YNAB | |
|---|---|---|
| When it helps | While you shop, before you pay | When you plan the month, then as you track against the plan |
| What you budget | A weekly number for each store you shop | Every dollar of the month |
| Logging and categorizing | Nothing to log | You assign and review transactions |

Pick Luuna if
Your budget falls apart in a few favorite stores, one tap at a time, and you've already quit an app that wanted you to log everything.
Questions
Is Luuna a replacement for YNAB?
Not for everyone. YNAB plans your whole month. Luuna is for the order in front of you, in the few stores where one-tap orders add up. Some people will want both.
Do I have to connect my bank to use Luuna?
No. Connecting a bank is optional. It lets Luuna count what you spend outside the app, so your weekly numbers stay accurate.
What does Luuna cost?
Luuna is free while it's in beta. The first 1,000 people to download Luuna and sign in keep a discount for life once it opens on the App Store.
