Accountability Partner texts
Luuna (Luuna, Inc.) is an iPhone budgeting app that helps people stop impulse purchases while they shop. A Luuna user can invite a friend or family member to be their accountability partner. With the partner’s permission, Luuna sends the partner a text when the user nears or goes over their weekly shopping budget, or asks the partner to approve a purchase.
Partners opt in by text, from their own phone. Luuna never texts a partner until the partner texts YES to Luuna’s number. Nobody else can sign a partner up on their behalf.
Accountability Partner texts come from Luuna’s number, (617) 356-0544, and are available for US mobile numbers only.
How a partner opts in

The user adds a partner in the Luuna app
In the app, the user opens Accountability Partners and picks a friend from their contacts. The partner shows as “Invite pending”, and the app explains that Luuna will only text them after they text YES, and that they can reply STOP anytime.

The user sends the invite from their own phone
The app opens the user’s own Messages app with a pre-written invite, which the user sends from their own number. It does not come from Luuna. It reads:

The partner texts YES to Luuna
To opt in, the partner texts YES (with the invite code, or just YES) or START to (617) 356-0544 from their own phone. The link in the invite opens a Luuna page with the full program terms and a “Text YES to join” button that opens the partner’s own Messages app. Opening the page does not sign anyone up. Directly above the button it says:

Help and opting out
- STOP: reply STOP to any Luuna text to stop all Accountability Partner texts. You’ll get one confirmation: “Luuna: You're unsubscribed and won't get more accountability texts. Reply START to resubscribe.”
- Rejoining: after opting out, text START to (617) 356-0544. If Luuna then asks for your invite code, text YES and the code from your friend’s invite. The invite page shows these steps.
- HELP: reply HELP for help: “Luuna Accountability: texts when a friend you support nears or passes their weekly budget. Help: support@tryluuna.com or tryluuna.com/sms. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”
